Basic Advantages of Laser Liposuction

There are many benefits that laser liposuction offers over traditional liposuction methods. The technique involves using a laser to break the fat for removal through a suction tube which follows the principle of liposuction surgery but differs in how the fat is liquefied. It is a much more accurate technique and allows for treatment of smaller or more delicate areas of the body. What is also amazing is the relative harmlessness laser liposuction poses to surrounding tissue in the area relative to traditional methods.

By using a laser to literally melt the fat cells there is a lot less stress on the rest of the body. The laser is guided through an optic fiber into the area where the unwanted fat cells reside. The optic fiber is attached with a tiny cannula, or suction tube which picks up the fatty substance as it is liquefied. The smaller tools and increased precision means smaller incision but also a slower rate of fat removal which limits this technique to small treatments.

Being limited to treating small deposits of fat is not necessary a bad thing since that is the specialty of laser liposuction. It is perfect for treating delicate areas with precision making chin liposuction and other procedures possible. Laser liposuction is a great option for facial regions as well as in small localized pockets around the body. It is also sometimes used in conjunction with a traditional liposuction technique to complement and touch up a large procedure.

The precision of the laser equating to less physical damage to surrounding tissue means there is less for the patient to have to recover from after the surgery. Unlike traditional liposuction where a patient could take as long as two weeks before being cleared to return to work, laser liposuction patients are typically able to return to work after just a day or two. This is a convenience that many people are sure to appreciate.
